In March, the University announced a prohibition on University-affiliated international and domestic travel (see https://provost.olemiss.edu/covid-19update/). Per that announcement, faculty who believe their travel is essential must apply for a waiver through the Provost’s Office, and staff who believe their travel is essential must apply for a waiver through their respective Vice Chancellor.
Requests for waivers for research-related travel (including travel for sponsored projects, regardless of travel distance) should state why the travel is essential NOW (and cannot be postponed), and describe what mitigation measures will be taken to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19. The waiver request should be prepared by the traveler and submitted through their normal travel approval chain making it clear you are requesting a waiver. If the waiver is approved, a normal Travel Approval form can be completed noting the waiver has been approved. To request a wavier, use the COVID-19EmergencyTravelWaiverForm.
